What exactly high-limit slots for real money play?
High-limit slots are not for the faint-hearted (or low budgeted) but if you’re a highroller or perhaps you just got lucky and multiplied the bankroll with some money to burn, they can be a great way to win very big very quickly
Of course, every player’s budget and conception of “limits” are different. In Las Vegas, Atlantic City and smaller casinos across North America, penny and nickel slots are still prevalent and probably draw the most players per hour. In online casino gaming, though, it’s not at all rare ofr a single slot game of, say, 20 paylines to be played for anywhere from 1¢ to $5 per line; in fact, the 1¢-to-$100 is perhaps the most common range found on modern online slots.
In the early to mid-2000s, slots that could be played for $500 or even more per spin were theoretically available, but enough reputable casino game software developers/providers have cleared the field for sanity and few games that can truly be called “high limit slots” still exist. For our purposes, we’ll consider “high limit slots” online to be any games that can be played for more than $100 per spin.
Please note, too, that high-limit slots are not to be confused with progressive jackpot slots. Progressive jackpot slots can pay millions on a few dollars’ (or even pennies’) worth of wager, sometimes even randomly after a losing spin. In contrast, the average win on a typical progressive slot is far lower than you’d expect to receive when playing high-limit slots. Also remember that, once a progressive jackpot is hit, that top payout sinks to very low levels before it is recharged to a “life-changing” sum so often publicized.
What are the best high limit slots online?
Again, such matters are left to the individual player, but a few of our favorite representative examples of high limit slots include the following.
Sushi Bar – Top bet $125 per spin; jackpot win $450,000. A high-variance 3D slot, Sushi Bar is a rare high limit slot that pays out often. Not many frills here (aside from the fat payouts), though a bonus round of 20 free spins may be won.
Ocean Princess – top bet $125 per spin; jackpot win $125,000. Quite possibly the highest-paying non-progressive classic slot online, the Ocean Princess slots game is a 3-reel, 5-payline game with an extra wild. Fill the screen with wilds and the payout is a huge 1,000x wager.
Safari Sam – top bet $150 per spin; jackpot win $250,000. Safari Sam is also probably the highest-paying online casino game of its kind, being a rare 3D high limit slots game. And Safari Sam keeps things exciting for the player of any budget with random 10x bonus multiplier wilds and stacked collapsing wilds also thrown into the action.
Lucky Tango – top bet $200 per spin, jackpot win $50,000. 50K may not sound like much of a jackpot in comparison to the aforementioned high limit slots, but hey, who’s gonna scoff at that payout? In addition, the retriggerable free spins bonus round, which can start with 50 free games is quite the way to run up winnings.
Vegas Nights – to bet $1000 per spin, jackpot win $100,000 (on a single payline). The appropriately-named Vegas Nights slots game is a widely-available high-limit slot. Payouts are pretty generous here, with a top payout of 2000x the payline wager – and that’s just on a single line. Lots of opportunities for big wins here.
Where is the best place to find high-limit slots?
Naturally, Las Vegas remains the world leader in high-limit slots, both in terms of payouts and number of machines themselves. European and Asian casinos rarely include slots and those video slot games in public places almost never take high-stakes wagering.
It is nearly impossible to recommend this or that high-limit slot machine in Las Vegas, however, as casinos both turn over their stock frequently and may engineer higher or lower limits on virtually any slot machine the given gaming house chooses to have installed.
As of this writing, the high limit slots game the general public may check it out is at The Venetian. Entitled simply Red, White and Blue, this classic one-armed bandit machine even includes the lever to pull.
Aside from this commonly-known curiosity, though, most high-limit slots in Las Vegas are limited to high-roller rooms. The Aria High Limit Room is fairly representative of these places in Sin City, with slot machines playable for a minimum bet of $200 per spin. Other such high-roller rooms for slots players are open at Las Vegas’s Luxor and Paris Resort casinos.
